Review: Giddy Giddy hair clips

Ro and Ree have hair that grows straight forward from their crowns, so you'll notice that I always have something strategically placed to keep hair out of their faces. To this end, I've assembled quite the arsenal of fun hair accessories. Man, I just love the darn things. Anyhow, when ittybittyladybug.com contacted me and asked if we were interested in reviewing the Giddy Giddy hair clips that they sell in their boutique, I said "Ooo, bring it on!!"

Well one week into the testing and I can already tell that these latest clips (designed by Giddy Giddy and sold by ittybittyladybug.com) are going to be in heavy rotation at our house. Why?

1. They're cute. So cute!
DSC_3299
DSC_3402
DSC_3578

2. The snap clip part is sewn into the felt (completely covered), so it doesn't rip hair out of your precious child's head—even when the clip is brutally yanked out by someone like, say, a twin sister.

3. The clips are small but they're designed to stay put, even on baby-fine hair—and let me just tell you, Giddy Giddy is NOT lying about this. Ro and Ree have the slipperiest hair on the planet, and I think they just might be the roughest girls who have ever tested these clips. (Actually I know they are.) I casually stuck one in Ree's hair last night and sent the girls outside to do their thing, and I'll be danged if that clip didn't stay put for the entire twinado exhibition. I couldn't believe it—something about the felt must just stick to the hair. Want to see the proof? (click the arrow on the far right if you want to speed through the pics)

Oh yeah, kind of hard to argue with that, huh?

Suggestions for improvement:
The adorable flower clips come in pink, red, purple, and orange, and little Miss Ree wondered why the heck they didn't make a yellow one. Pretty good suggestion, if you ask me. Also, I'd love to see even bigger versions of the clips—go hog wild with them, ya know? These clips stay put like they've been glued in place, but with whirling dervish children like mine, you still get some hair that occasionally flips forward from the back of the head and covers the clip. Not a big deal, but a mongo-sized clip would be a nice option to have for the days when I know they'll spend more time upside down than right side up (like preschool days or park days).

Coupon Code and Giveaway:
Salsa readers who order from ittybittyladybug.com can enter the code SALSA15 at checkout to get 15% off your entire purchase from now through the end of September. The store is also sponsoring a giveaway of five Giddy Giddy hair accessories to a Salsa reader. To enter, just leave a comment here. One entry/comment per household, residents of the U.S. and Canada only, entries accepted until 8am on Tuesday 9/1/09. The winner will be drawn at random, announced on this blog, and also notified by email (if I have a way to contact you) that same day. The winner has 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be chosen.

Grace's hair grows forward, also, which drives me crazy! I tried to grow out her bangs, but just couldn't do it!! I would love to try these clips...

Oh my goodness, those little flower clips are the cutest ever! Even at 3 1/2, Kylie still has the finest baby hair and if a clip doesn't have some sort of "no slip" grip, you can forget about it! I'd love to try these out ~ checking out the website!

They are sooooo adorable!!! We have a tough time with clips and/or hair staying in place!! We look forward to giving them a try!

Well, I am ALL about hair clips! I buy A LOT of them, my 2 year old LOVES them and so do I! :)

Those multi coloured ones with the little pin heads are just gorgeous!

Ooh, mama like! Alayna has the same hair as the twinadoes and has been properly trained to request "clippies" for her hair or no outfit is complete. (And I don't do bangs) :)

These looks like just what we need! Little Bit's hair falls out of every clip I put in, after just a while. We need something, as growing out bangs is just *so* much fun. Heading over the web site now. Hey, if I win, more clips is always a good thing!

My daughter just turned 3 and her fine, wispy hair has barely grown past her chin. Whenever she pulls out a clip and there are strands of hair stuck in it I just throw it in the trash because she doesn't have any extra strands to spare! These sound great!

Love the clips and know my grand daughters will love them too.

Wow, they are so cute. I LOVE the panda one too! I need clips that stay put too, I actually just cut bangs back on Kaylee because I was tired of redoing her clip several times a day.

Little T's hair grows the same way - frustrating to say the least. I always end up putting her hair into a pony tail on top! Clips would be nice but she pulls them out along with hair. I'll check these out.

Well we don't have our little girl just yet but they would surely come in handy when we do. I'm betting our little guy would not want to test them our for his soon to be little sister.

These clips are adorable! Lya's hair grows forward as well...but so far it isn't long enough to be a problem. I can't wait until she'll leave a clip in long enough to know how it stands up in her super-slippery hair.

Pandas, ladybugs and flowers...Oh my!!

These are adorable...my daughter's hair grows forward from her crown as well. I was hoping once it was grown out (bangs are still growing out but almost to her ears now!) that it would magically grow to the sides...guess not!!

We sooooo need these clips! Thanks for sharing!! and once again, thanks for allowing Canadian residents to enter as well!

Count me in for the giveway. I've amazed drawers of various useless hair clips, elastic dodads and whatnots in a futitle attempt to keep back my daughter's poker straight, fine, slippery (although very beautiful). Nothing I've found seems to stand up to the gautlet of sommersaults, running, hanging upside down, climbing sideways, that she seemss to throw at it.

Tony and Rett said...

LOVE them!

Our twins have the EXACT same hair issues. Soft, slippery, and it grows straight forward! I'd LOVE to have these in my arsenal!

Thanks M3!

These are SO cute. If the twinadoes can wear them, it's a possibility that Sara and Kelly could wear them too! So far, no luck in finding the perfect clips for their thin and silky hair. Mommy's hair is thick and curly!

I'm thinking of growing Caroline's bangs out and those just might help since she complains about regular clips and ponytail holders since they pull on her hair. She also has the thinnest hair (unlike her brother) and only ponytail holders work for any length of time and then they usually start to fall out.

Thanks for the review. Clips never stay in my daughter's hair, either. I hope they make larger sizes soon for older little girls.

These would be cute on my DDs. They are seventeen months apart, and we must have everything alike (but different colors) even though they are not twins!!
Thanks for doing this giveaway!

Oh Em Gee! These would be SUPER for Courtney's hair as she now insists that she no longer wants her bangs cut! /sigh Nothing is more annoying than hair in the eyes. And if they stay put like you say, these would be PERFECT for holding those pesky bangs out of the way!

Thanks for the review! I would love to try these clips out! My daughter has the same type of hair as your twins, and we are always losing our hair clips at school and at the playground. I have spent so much money on hair clips and need some that actually stay in her hair! Please enter me in your contest. Thanks!

What cute clips and yes the girls so need things to keep the hair out of their faces.

So cute! Would love to win them! My little girl is Colombian and has hair exactly like your girls-black, smooth, long, and grows straight forward over her face. Those clips are an awesome find:)
